A Report On The E-C Translation Of Amendment 2007 Of Property Law Act 1969 Western Australia

Nowadays the free-trade zone strategy is being implemented and the Belt and Road Initiatives is also being received the positive response from many countries in the world.China has made closer trading and further cooperation with other countries.As an indispensable part of trading,legal translation plays an increasingly important role in trade cooperation.This translation chooses sixty articles in the amendment 2007 of Property Law Act 1969 from Western Australia as the translation materials in order to learn about legal translation and improve its translation skills.Based on English law,Australian law has gradually localized English law and has formed its own legal system on the constitutional law,civil and commercial law,international law and environmental protection.As one of the typical examples for the developed and developing countries to learn from,it contains detailed and scientific regulations on the movables,immovables,lease,protection of property rights and property relations,which gives some important reference to the improvement of property law and to the codification of civil code in China.At present,there is no Chinese translation of this law and relevant research.In view of such backgrounds,this report tries to translate and study this law,hoping to arise more scholars' attention on this law,and hoping they can try to make some research on it.This report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces this translation from its backgrounds and nature.The second chapter describes the process of this translation in detail from its preparation,process and proofreading.The third chapter analyzes some specific cases in this law from the lexical and syntactic aspects,enumerates some translation problems and summarizes their respective strategies under the guidance of the semantic and communicative translation.The report analyzes archaic words,synonyms and introductory words and puts forward three translation methods,which are conversion,omission and contextual translation.Besides,it also mentions relevant translation methods in regard to the parallel construction,attributive clauses and conditional sentences.In the fourth chapter,the report makes a summarization of this translation.It reviews the solved translation problems and translation methods in the third chapter,lists some unsolved problems,and finally shares some benefits reaped from this translation.It is hoped that this report can provide some useful reference for legislative texts translation.
