Translation Practice Report On Information And Guidelines For The Third Senior Officials' Meeting (SOM 3) And Related Meetings

With the development of economic globalization and political multipolarization,international exchanges are raised and the frequency of international conferences is higher and higher.The conference guide is the first procedure for the organizers and participants to communicate with each other before the meeting,aiming at informing the participants of the meeting's specific considerations and making the meeting a complete success.To a certain extent,the quality of the conference guide reflects the quality and level of the meeting,but also reveals the overall strength of the organizers.Therefore,the translation of the conference guide holds equal significance.This translation practice is based on Information and Guidelines for the Third Senior Officials' Meeting(SOM 3)and Related Meetings which involves welcome and introduction,meeting dates and venue,contact information,registration and accreditation,meeting schedule,logistics,etc.The translation report is divided into four parts.The first part introduces the background,introduction and significance of the translation project.The second part briefly introduces the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation and post-proofreading.The third part is the main body,in which the author firstly illustrates Skopos theory and then analyzes the vocabulary,sentences,voice of conference guide under the guidance of Skopostheorie,by listing the author's translation case.The fourth part is the summary of translation practice,including the revelation the author gained through the translation practice,as well as the shortcomings that the author recognized.This translation practice is guided by the Skopostheorie.The author hopes to highlight the guiding significance of the Skopostheorie on the translation of the conference guide.At the same time,the author expects that this translation practice could provide some reference for the translation of the conference guide considering the less study of conference guide translation.
