This translation report is based on the Chinese-English translation practice of The Mute Slave from the Taiwanese female Echo Chan's prose collection The Weeping Camel.It is the first time to translate this prose.Based on the translation,the report analyzes the translation cases and develops translating strategies under the guidance of the three basic rules of Skopos Theory.The report is divided into four parts.First of all,the background of this project is introduced,then a literature review of the Skopos Theory is presented and its three basic rules: skopos rule,coherence rule and fidelity rule.The second part of the report is the translation process and difficulties in the translation.Then the third part is the main body of the report,in which different translation cases and translation methods are listed under the guidance of these three rules,such as literal translation,free translation and addition in order to make an in-depth analysis of the translation of the prose.The fourth part is a summary of this translation.On one hand,this translation report is aimed to introduce Chinese outstanding literature work and promote the Chinese splendid culture to overseas readers,on the other hand,through this translation,it can also improve the skill of literature translation of the author.It also wants to provide the reference for the translators engaged in literature translation.
