After the end of the "Cultural Revolution",literature and art came to a crossroads with an uncertain future.Under the opportunity to end the pain caused by the "Cultural Revolution","Scar Literature" came into being.Under the editor's care, journals were used as efficient media to guide the public opinion.Li Ziyun, editor and commentator, relied on "Shanghai Literature" and literary criticism to play an irreplaceable role in the ideological trend of "Scar Literature".The literary concept and social ideal held by Li ZiYun can be found from his tendency to screen and publish "problem novels" and his position in many arguments. In the “Scar Literature” trend of thought, the discourse power competition also mapped the unavoidable contradictions and entanglements in the process of literary evolution at that time.Placing Li Ziyun's literary practice in this complex historical state can help us through the smooth traces of the journey of literature to explore the unevenness and entanglement that are covered, and to challenge the contradictions and determination of a generation of intellectuals. The first chapter of the thesis mainly focuses on Li Ziyun's role in promoting "scar literature" at the beginning of its development."Scar Literature" quickly appeared after the end of the "Cultural Revolution".And the reissued "Shanghai Literature" also immediately identified its own position and escorted "Scar Literature".In addition to publishing "problem novels" in plenty,"Shanghai Literature" has also attracted much attention for publishing and discussing a large number of controversial "problem novels." In the process of publishing “problem novels”,Li Ziyun tried hard to construct a relatively loose public opinion atmosphere of journals under pressure and established a column to discuss the issues involved in the works,so that a group of “problem novels” would not lose the motivation and opportunities to move forward in a relatively monotonous tone. The second chapter mainly discusses the hidden intention in Li Ziyun's support for the "problem novel",namely the goal of rebuilding the revolutionary ideal. In the development of "Scar Literature",Li Ziyun was guided by this goal from theoretical exploration to literary practice. From the publication of "The Righteousness of Literature and Art" to "Shanghai Literature",from the optimism of the intellectuals' situation to the struggle of writing the satisfactory characters of "four modernizations”,Li Ziyun was eager to use his own efforts to find a suitable position for intellectuals in the new period so as to integrate into the process of a new era.Based on the analysis and discussion of the first two chapters, the third chapter focuses on the deeper reasons for the failure to reconstruct revolutionary ideals and the more or less restrictive effect of Li Ziyun on "Scar Literature".This mainly includes the misplaced logical foundation of "Scar Literature",the break-up and acceptance of "Shanghai literature" for the "Cultural Revolution" model in the early years of the literary world, and the logic of self entanglement that Li Ziyun could not help himself out of."Scar Literature" was built on the way of thinking that overlooks the spirit of the May Forth Movement and takes humanitarianism as the philosophical foundation. It has shown bias of the "feudal misrepresentation" against some modern symptoms in the social process and simplification of the complexity in the spirit of the May Forth Movement, which has caused a bottleneck in the "problem novels"."Shanghai Literature" failed to get rid of the "Cultural Revolution" operating model behind the exposing and criticizing of the "Gang of Four".Li Ziyun suffered from the pursuit of personal legitimacy and political struggle.Under the combined effects of various factors,it is not surprising that "Scar Literature" is unsustainable and Li Ziyun's desire to rebuild revolutionary ideals has come to nothing.
