Content: During the warring state period,metal tool was widely used in many fields.the improvement of production technology promoted the development of productivity and create a lot of treasure.However,these treasure didn't bring any good to common people.It was a special time when new regime appeared one by one ceaselessly.Vassal states waged wars just for their own interests.After decades of warfare,there were not enough money to support.The rulers began to took more and more money out of common people's pockets.Thus,people found it difficult to bear and had to struggle for their life.In addition,the rulers lived a life of extravagance.They addicted to extravagance and pleasure and continued to exploit and oppress the people in order to satisfy their greedy desires.Mozi,as the representative of the citizens,knew that the life of the people was not easy,and put forward the idea of "Shang thrifty" in order to improve the present living situation of people and maintain the state rule and social stability.Mozi's economic thought was based on both love and harmony.From the utilitarian point of view of Gui Yi and Shang li,Mozi's economic thought mainly included three aspects: saving use,saving burial and no-pleasure,among which saving use was the core of his thought,and puts forward a set of complete saving standard.This article took Confucianism,Taoism as examples,respectively from the connotation,the standard,and emphasis to make the concrete analysis to these three frugality thoughts.Taoism advocates "treasure and thrift" to achieve the goal of personal self-cultivation;Although the Confucianists advocate frugality,the thought of "thrift" advocated by the Confucianists is obviously hierarchical,emphasizing "frugality" and consonance with "propriety".Different from Taoism and Confucianism,Mohist Shang thrift advocated the consumption pattern of "universal harmony of nature",the connotation of "saving use" was rich and concrete,close to the common people's life,and because Mozi's birth was cold,he knew the people's suffering.Therefore,from the perspective of comparison,Mozi's thought of Shangthrift shows the following three characteristics: utilitarianism in purpose,quality in standards and commonality in stand.By analyzing the theoretical basis,background,content and characteristics of Mozi's thought of Shang Jian,it is not difficult to see that the thought of Shang Jian is helpful to lighten the burden of the working people to a certain extent,and at the same time,to maintain social stability.Promoting production development has important guiding significance.But while affirming something,we should also see its limitations.Mozi's strict standard,which suppressed people's reasonable desire,to some extent hindered the social and economic development.As the representative of the small production class,Mozi had a strong idealism of the small production class.The most fatal thing was that the thought of Shang Jian was divorced from reality and objective factors and lacked feasibility.It is doomed that this thought cannot be widely accepted and implemented.We should criticize and inherit the classical culture or thought with the mentality of "take the essence and discard the dregs" Of course,there is no exception for Mohist thrift.In contemporary,it will give us great inspiration not only for individuals but also for society.
