The Study On Master Tai-xu’s Buddhism-based View Of Religion

As an important part of human civilization,Religion is a significant content of Tai-Xu’s attention,but the existing research results have little attention on his view of religion.This paper aims to sort out the Tai-Xu’s view of religion with the purpose of objectively presenting the style of his view on religion.For the whole religion,Tai-Xu defined religion as a kind of moralization according to Buddhism,and then held high the flag of atheism,based on these he emphatically evaluated and analyzed Confucianism,Taoism and Christianity.In terms of Confucianism and Taoism,Tai-Xu selected some key ideas and then evaluated them relying on certain Buddhist theory;for the Christian,he analyzed the concept of the"God" by virtue of Buddhism theory of Vijbana-vada,pointed out the absurdity of the God as the first cause,then he judged the "fraternity" concept and considered it is not perfect love.For Buddhism,by clarifying the nature of the Buddhism,Tai-Xu aimed to highlight the spirit of Mahayana Buddhism,he also expounded his opinion on Classification of Buddha’s teaching with the view of finding a right-opportunity method to educate the world,and this is the promotion of "life Buddhism" and"humanistic Buddhism".Master Tai-Xu’s view of religion formed in the special era and because of his role of Buddhist member,his view of religion possessed a strong tinge of Buddhist center,which is his limitation.
