Research On Li Zongtong's Historiography Thought

Li Zongtong is a modern famous Taiwan historian.He devote his life to academic research and learning Chinese and Western.He has wide range of research and get many achievements.In the long history of research formed its own unique historical thought.This article tries to discuss Li Zongtong's thought of history from four aspects.The first chapter introduces Li Zongtong's life and historical path.Through simply combing the life of Li Zongtong,his works of history and the course of history,understand the process of Li Zongtong's life experience,academic origin and the formation of historical thought The second chapter discusses the historical thought of Li Zongtong,which is the focus of the full text.By studying Li Zongtong's historical works and academic dissertations,his historical thought summarized as:see the relationship between Chinese and Western historiography from a global perspective,discuss the relationship between social science theory and history,analyze the relationship between historical materials and historiography,the understanding of the future development of historiography,acquainting of the law of historical evolution in five aspects.The third chapter tells the characteristics of Li Zong-tung's thought of history.Due to the dual influence of Chinese and Western historiography,Li Zongtong shows different from ordinary people in his historical thought.This article expounds four prominent features:the methodology of comparative historiography,the new theory of ancient and new ideas,the interdisciplinary research of history,and the textual research is true and perfect.The fourth chapter discusses the inadequacies and introspection of Li Zongtong's thought of historiography.Influenced by the traditional textual criticism,Li Zongtong has shown his emphasis on the textual research in historical studies.Over time,the formation of historical examinations,regardless of history,is one of the obstacles affecting the development of traditional historiography.In addition,at that time,western historiography had become its own theoretical system and was introduced into China.While the new historiography in China was in its initial stage,Li Zongtong used Western history to study the ancient Chinese social system.Owing to its limitations,he only focused on the "sameness"between Chinese and Western cultures,ignoring the "different",and then embarked on"Westernization" mode theory.In short,Li Zongtong's thought of history has its own shortcomings,but his historical thought still has the value of academic research,which deserves academic study.
