A Report On The English-Chinese Translation Of CNN News About Environment Problem Under The Guidance Of The Communicative Translation Theory

Nowadays,environmental problems,hot topics in press,have drawn more and more attention.Such world-wide and worsening problems can not be solved without global communication and cooperation,in which translation plays an important role of bridge.News on environmental issues translated from abroad can,on one hand,offer more resources for domestic media researchers and,on the other,provide Chinese readers in the Chinese mainland with more information.This paper is a report on my Chinese translation of eleven articles concerning environmental problems,downloaded from the CNN website.And the report reveals the guiding significance of the Communicative Translation Theory.To be more specific,the Communicative Translation Theory contributes to more idiomatic and effective translated versions.However,the Communicative Translation Theory overemphasizes the targeted readers,turning the original textual structures into versions in different forms in order to fit in well with the targeted culture,so the versions may not be able to produce the same amount of information for targeted readers as that for original readers.Therefore,it is suggested the Communicative Translation Theory be incorporated with the Semantic Translation Theory in a critical way to achieve better results.
