Today's highly-developed information society demands us to improve our reading efficiency.Through reading,we can not only get more knowledge,but also enlarge our vocabulary.Also,in college English test band 4 and band 6,reading tasks take a great proportion.In the teaching process of non-English majors,reading is a key but difficult task.As a new type of teaching model,flipped classroom puts forward some new ways of teaching and learning.So it can help improve the current ways of teaching reading in our classrooms.This study compares the results of flipped classroom teaching model and traditional grammar-translation teaching model.The author does an experiment during an academic term in two classes in Hebei University of Water Resources and Electric Engineering in order to study the following two questions.(1)How does flipped classroom influence students' reading comprehension?(2)How does flipped classroom influence students' reading interest?This study takes the method of experiment,chooses two classes as the research subjects.One class is experiment class.The other is control class.These two classes are at the same level and are taught by the same teacher.Both classes take pre-test and post-test.By analyzing the results of the experiment,the author tries to find how flipped classroom influences the students' reading comprehension.Questionnaires and interviews are taken to investigate how flipped classroom influences the students' reading interest.After the experiment,this study shows that flipped classroom increases the students' reading scores,arouses their interest in English.So,flipped classroom can be used in college English teaching for non-English majors.
