No much attention has been given to the translation of documents of educational historiography in the translation field because they have always been regarded as educational documents. It is "twin engines — popular entrepreneurship and innovation" that arouses their interest by way of exploring historical origins and genes of innovation and entrepreneurship in western developed countries. As the model of Entrepreneurial University,M.I.T.has already formed a much complete system of its own in terms of theoretical research and practice on entrepreneurship education so a lot of researchers have put great emphasis on it.This English to Chinese translation report is based on Mind and Hand — The Birth of MIT(Excerpt)and MIT in Perspective: A Pictorial History of Massachusetts Institute of Technology(Excerpt),which introduce the history and the development of its entrepreneurship education,so there is much instructive significance as well as practical value for the counterpart of China. This report explores the English to Chinese translation process in the guidance of Toury's Translation Norms Theory, particularly from the perspective of “translation adequacy” and “translation acceptability” of its initial norms. The report start with “task description”,giving a brief introduction to the background, property and features of this task, the significance of selecting this material and the related translation theory. Then it describes the translation process, which covers the content of “preparation before translation”,especially introduces the process of creating Termbase and Translation Memory with the use of Trados,“planning of translation” and “revision after translation”;the core part of this report is “case analysis”,and under the conduct of this theory,it discusses what kind of situations should be inclined to “translation adequacy” and what to“translation acceptability” in combination with specific examples.Next the author performs an experiment on the translation quality control(QC),and finally draws a conclusion, summing up the translation report in terms of some unsolved issues and experiences gained from the translation practice. It was discovered by practice that proper nouns and phrases as well as language style should be dealt with “translation adequacy”,while the phenomenon of polysemy, some useful expressions, words and phrases with historical significance and sentence structures should be handled by “translation acceptability”.Through the experiment we can conclude that the task allocation, ways of proofreading and the use of CAT can indeed make a difference on translation QC,and the QC of translation of documents of educationalhistoriography applies for the basic rules of CAT,and guidance of Toury's Translation Norms Theory in the course of QC of target text has seen good results.
