Escort Interpreting Report Of Japanese Butoh Master Yukio Waguri's Dancing Workshop In Xi'an

This interpretation report describes the interpretation task accomplished by the author in Japan's Butoh master Yukio Waguri's dancing workshop in Xi'an.The report was held on 10th March,2016,lasting around 3 hours.Mr.Yukio Waguri used English to present his speech which widely involves fields of dancing,arts,and painting.What's more,the speaker's English has a strong Japanese accent,along with his other speaking habits had increased the difficulty of interpreting.For example:the wrong pronunciation of the consonant "r" and the mistakes on English grammar.Besides,the speaker's lecture is not made of complete sentences,his words cannot make up sentences.After careful listening of the records and the written of the transcript based on the records,the author made analysis on this interpretation under the guide of the Fuction Plus Loyalty theory of German's functionalism translation theory by adopting several translation strategies like addition,omission and free translation.The report consists of four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction of the background,nature,and the client's requests of the task.Chapter two presents the preparation,interpreting process and the post interpreting of the whole task.And Chapter three introduces the Fuction Plus Loyalty theory of German's functionalism translation theory,and the analysis of the problems and their corresponding methods.The last chapter makes a summary of the interpretation and raises some inspirations for future study.This interpretation report is designed to analyze the problem during the process,and make suggestions or strategies to guide future's interpreting work.Meanwhile,by composing this report,the author's understanding of translation theories has been deepened,and it lays a foundation for the future study.
