Based on the social cognitive theory,we theorized a curvilinear mediated moder-ation model that links perceived overqualification to employee voice.A threewaved timelagged survey in a field study in organization provided convergent support of this model.Based on 357 employeesupervisor matched samples which from the Yangtze River Delta. Then we used the HLM6.02 software and bootstrap process found that the support for our hypotheses that perceived overqualification had an inverted U-shaped relationship with voice behaviourthrough the voice efficacy. And this relation-ship was moderated by consultation. When the leader' consultation was high, they engaged in high voice. We also found that perceived overqualification indirectly influence speaking up through voice efficacy with the inverted U-shaped path. But it has not impacted speaking out significantly. We discussed the theoretical and practical implications of this research.
