Selecting parts or voice types is crucial for a singer. For tenor alone, there are already many different types. This automatically decides his or her repertoire.In one’s study, one often receive rigorous training according to his or her specific voice type. However when a singer started an operatic career, It is often unavoidable for him or her to encounter parts that does not fit to his or her voice type. Some parts does not cause damage to one’s voice; others may direct to a disastrous consequence, forcing one to give up a career. There were many singers have tried roles that don’t fit to their voices. Some were successful some were not. This demonstrates that adapting one’s voice to a different range isn’t going to damage one’s voice. If one acquired knowledge about the proper use of our voice and other related issues, it is very possible to avoid injury. This essay uses three different parts to explains the fundamental guideline of dividing the different tenor types, based on their characteristics. Also the writer points out the tips to keep in mind when one tries to change his or her voice type. It targets on lowering the risk of injury for tenor voices, in order to help their career go smoothly.
