This paper regards the increased new words of the "Modern Chinese Dictionary" in the seventh edition which published in September 2016 as the research object,screening out 295 new words that recorded in the seventh edition through comparing the changes from sixth to seventh edition.After a statistical study,this paper finds out that the new words are distributed in the fields of social life,politics,economy and network.Among these,the network-related new words account the most.The new words give priority to ordinary new words,and the number of dialect words and loan words appear an increasing trend.In terms of constitutional features,the additional new words are increasing,which form word clustering.The new words are more pronounced,and the number of the three syllable and four syllable words increased.Also,the increase of the three syllable word is obvious.This paper mainly focuses on the case study of the three syllable new words recorded in the seventh edition.At the end of the paper,some teaching strategies are put forward on the basis of the characteristics of Chinese as second language teaching.
