Translation Practice Report On Bidding Document From The Perspective Of Socio-Semiotic Approach

As international communication is growing closer,the international project cooperation also takes a fast-developing pace.And the bidding document,as the written document for the cooperation mechanism,is the guideline for the construction and the evidence for conflicts and claims.The selected source text of the report belongs to the volume eighth of T206 tender series of Singapore Land Transport Authority.As a project tender on working section of “Soft Landscape”,the language of the source text of this translation practice is concise,message-oriented and operation-supportive in line with certain writing forms.Based on the nature of source text,the translation theory---Socio-Semiotic Translation Approach is adopted as the theory guidance,which was proposed by American translation theorist,Eugene A.Nida.It's to study the message transformation and translation selection in translation process based on semiotic system.This theory provides an objective and pragmatic translation method and standard for tender translation.This report will be divided into four parts: the first part is to introduce the practice,the second to describe the process,the third to analyze the specific case and the fourth to summarize the whole translation practice.Under the guidance of Socio-Semiotic Translation Approach,this translation practice follows the transmission from theory to practice and then from practice to theory.
