College English is an important part of higher education curriculum. It mainly focuses on the cultivation of international talents for the professional services and aims at cultivating students'comprehensive English application ability and cross-cultural quality to meet the needs of students' professional learning, international exchange and employment for English.Since 2014,for implementing the English curriculum reform,Hunan University developed the "order-oriented" advanced English course design reform in its College of Environmental Science and Engineering,College of Physics and Microelectronics,College of Finance and Statistics and School of Economic and Trade, respectively.According to the questionnaire survey on students' needs, the study combines quantitative with qualitative research methods to explore the influence of college English"order-oriented" advanced course design on students' English learning and the attitudes of teachers and students involved in the reform. Two research questions are put forward in the study:1.Does the college English "order-oriented" advanced course design have any significant effects on students' English learning in terms of CET-4 scores?2.What are the teachers' and students' attitudes towards the college English"order-oriented" advanced course design? The four colleges mentioned above are experimental group, and another four colleges are selected as control group whose placement test score has little significance with the experimental group.Social Science Statistical Software 19.0(SPSS version 19.0)is used to analyze the College English Test Band 4(June.2015)in two groups, and follow-up questionnaire and interview are conducted among students and teachers who have been involved in the reform, respectively. The results show that:1.After one-year reform of "order-oriented" advanced English course design,students'CET-4 scores in two groups exist significant difference, and scores in the experimental group have significantly improved. It is proved that the English teaching methods under the"order-oriented" mode and the reform program are effective;the teaching methods and course design are feasible.2.College English "order-oriented" advanced course design to a large extent meets the needs of students and improves their competence. On one hand, the questionnaire for students shows that the course design is reasonable and diversified, which is conducive to their development in the field of studying English and future job.On the other hand, through the content analysis of the interview,it can be seen that the teachers are generally satisfied with the "order-oriented" advanced English course design and with students'learning attitude, motivation and effects. On the whole, they claim that the curriculum objectives are clearer and detailed;the content are more professional with strong pertinence. The limitations of this study exist in the following aspects:1.The researcher doesn't observe and analyze the college English classes during the reform process,or more valuable information may be provided.2.The thesis mainly researches into "order-oriented"advanced English course design reform among the four colleges and schools in Hunan University, its continuous development in the whole school is still to be further researched.
