The Liangzhu cultural site is one of the representatives of the ancient civilization sites in Yangtze River basin. The relationship among the development, prosperity, and extinction of Liangzhu culture and the ancient environment or paleoclimate, that is,the study of the relationship between human and land in Liangzhu period has always been a hot spot in Liangzhu culture research.GIS(Geographical Information System)is a database system that uses geospatial data for analysis and simulation.GIS has a relatively mature application in domestic archaeological research. With the continuous emergence of archaeological data of Liangzhu Culture, the present author tried to use remote sensing,GIS and other means to carry out some meaningful research on the human-nature relationship of the Liangzhu site group. The author has collected a large number of related research results of the Liangzhu cultural archaeology and paleoenvironment,as well as the archaeological data of the Liangzhuo site group, combined with the elevation data and remote sensing image data within the Liangzhuo site group, established the Liangzhu site group geographical information system. Then the digital terrain analysis, the spatial distribution characteristics analysis of the site groups and the hydrological analysis of the ancient Dongtiaoxi Stream were performed. After analysis and preliminary discussion, the following conclusions are drawn:1.Liangzhu area has inherent natural environment advantages. For example, the ancient city of Liangzhu is located inside a C-shaped basin surrounded by mountains on three sides. The favorable terrain conditions can mitigate the direct invasion of heavy rain, strong winds, and cold currents. It also indirectly enhances the survivability of Liangzhu’s ancestors and becomes a “safe haven” for locals for long-term living. The area where the site is located is near the river plain, and there is plenty of overground and underground freshwater resources at low altitude.2.According to the results of the site’s spatial distribution characteristics analysis, the Liangzhu site group has two centers. The Liangzhu ancient city is the main center of the gathering area, and the area around the Miaoqian ruins is the sub-central gathering area. From the point of view of agglomeration, the main center is surrounded by humans because it is the power administrative center, while humans gathered to sub-center because it is a large-scale village.3.According to the analysis of the diversion of Tiaoxi River, the ancient waters on the south side of the Bianjiashan Wharf are likely to be the rivers after the convergence of the Beitiaoxi Stream and the Zhongtiaoxi Stream, and had been flowed eastward into the waterway between Taihu Lake and the Qiantang River.Liangzhu ancestors’ choice of living and housing are closely related to the natural environment.First of all,in order to meet the survival needs, they have to select areas with sufficient freshwater resources and land resources suitable for planting. For the sake of long-term safety, the ancestors clearly chose the terrain that is favorable for evading natural disasters. At the same time,The ancestors’ reconstruction of the surrounding environment cannot be ignored either, and the construction of water conservancy projects and docks fully demonstrates that they not only passively select and adapt to the environment, but also have already had the ability to transform the environment. In short,Liangzhu culture prospered under the interaction of the Liangzhu ancestors and the surrounding environment.
