The translation of city publicity materials attracts much more attention recently.It is an important way to promote culture and tourism,attract investment and stimulate economy.Thus,the quality will have direct impact on the communicative effect.The publicity materials are featured by informative and vocative functions.When translating them,the translators should focus on target readers,communicative effect and translated versions to meet readers' reading and writing habits.This thesis analyzes the translation of Suihua Profile Brochure from the perspective of Peter Newmark's communicative translation.Several translation methods are used to achieve certain purposes.In the process of translation practice,the author uses paraphrase,annotation and simplification to translate Chinese culture-loaded words,proper nouns and four-character phrases so as to make the version more acceptable and comprehensible,uses division,combination,supplement,omission and rewriting to translate the sentences in order to convey accurate information and uses addition and adjustment to make target text in style and logic in accord with the readers' reading and writing habits.In the end,the author discusses the deficiencies of the version and translator literacy and hopes that this report can provide reference for other translators.
