Among all the Chinese word categories,symbolic words are considered to be an essential part in teaching Chinese as a second language because of their rich cultural background and unique symbolic significance,which makes it imperative to promote the research of symbolic words teaching.Combined with Acculturation Theory of Schumann,the paper discusses the significance of importing symbolic words into culture teaching in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.With the methods of questionnaire survey,information collection and integrating theory with practice the paper aims to help Chinese language learners master the cultural connotation of symbolic words and use them proficiently in practice thus to close the psychological and the social gap between Chinese language learners and Chinese culture as well as language,and to achieve the acquisition of both Chinese language and culture.There are totally three parts in this paper.First of all,the author demonstrates the necessity of the research from the aspects of the introduction of genesis,the ontology study of symbolic words,the current situation of the research of symbolic words in teaching Chinese as a foreign language as well as the significance and the objectives,and presents the research methods in this paper.Secondly,the author defines and classifies the symbolic words,and takes the New Practical Chinese Reader Textbook,which is now the most widely used textbook,as an example,to analyse and demonstrate the significance of importing symbolic words into culture teaching.What’s more,the author analyzes the results of the questionnaire survey on some Chinese language learners in Bishkek Humanities University about their symbolic words learning conditions and designs a teaching course of symbolic words.The paper draws a conclusion in the last part:importing symbolic words into culture teaching makes the Chinese language learners understand the cultural knowledge behind the symbolic words,develop their awareness and ability of inter-cultural communication,and it’s also in favor of the psychological guidance and cultivation to their second language learning.It will save half the effort to learn Chinese language if the learners close actively both of the social and psychological distance with Chinese language and Chinese cultural circle. |
