The Spatial Writing In Yan Geling’s Novels

Yan Geling is a writer who is deeply influenced by western civilization and has profound cultural background of the motherland.In addition,she witnessed the surging of China’s social movements and suffered from the hardships of living in the foreign country.These have decided that the spatial writing of her novel would present different characteristics,and form a dialogue relationship to achieve the writer’s good wishes.Finally,this article also points out the deficiencies of depiction of extreme living space of homeland and foreign land in the novels of Yan Geling.This article mainly includes three aspects:The first chapter combines the text reading with the space theory to analyze the daily life space of Chinese with foreign nationality in heterogeneity culture.The first research is that the heterogeneity culture shape the Chinese daily life space and Chinese body space.Judging from this,from 19 th century to 21 st century,the Chinese people’s living situation in America has never been improved in real sense,but they are constantly accepting the discipline and repression of Western civilization.Based on this,the conclusion of the third section of this chapter is that this kind of strong and exclusive culture is the important reason for the Chinese people to create the double anxiety of the space and identity.The second chapter also analyzes the fracture writing of the space power of homeland by the text reading and the space theory.The fracture writing of space power mainly manifests the memory of the political homeland and the imaginary consumption space and realizes the recall of cultural homeland in the gap between the two spaces.The third chapter mainly analyses the transposition of interpretation and spiritual appeal of foreign and native culture.First of all,this chapter summarizes the respective contents and characteristics of the foreign and native culture.On the basis of this,it realizes the mutual interpretation between them.Finally,it obtains Yan Geling’s spiritual and cultural demand of the spatial writing that is the pursuit of equal dialogue and integration of East and West culture.Yan Geling’s unique cultural identity and life experience have brought new characteristics to her novels.The former is the basis for the writer to complete the examination of the native culture and foreign culture and realize the equal exchange and integration of them.The latter makes her works of the majority of the protagonists have the human brilliance to conquer or ignore all the power of the training and survival plights.In those areas,Yan Geling has made admirable achievements.However,it is noteworthy that Yan Geling’s novels still have deficiencies in dealing with the protagonist and the extreme living environment,resulting with the excessive digestion of suffering.In fact,in Yan Geling’s works,whether it is heterogeneous cultural space,or political,consumer space,they have exhibited an extreme trait.This extreme living spatial writing makes the story of the protagonist’s life present legendary.This legendary,to a certain extent,dissolves the tragic character and historical authenticity of the story and make the novels have the suspicion that novels please the public aesthetic taste.
