The aircraft industry in the UK has a long and glorious history.Since the first aircraft manufacturer established in 1908,UK's aircraft industry has made a great number of accomplishments,even till today.UK's aircraft industry has played an important part in winning both the Great War and the World War II.During the post-war decade,British aircraft industry began to transform from mainly military use to civilian use and developed the first commercial jet plane in the world,bringing civilian aircraft into the Jet Era.The British Aircraft industry had a glorious history,but the decline during the 1960s-70 s torn it apart.The system of British aircraft industry collapsed.Nowadays,UK is not capable of producing a whole plane on its own.What's the reason of the decline of British aircraft industry?From economical aspect,starting since the late 1950 s,the development of economy of Great Britain slowed down,which made it difficult for aircraft industry to operate efficiently.From policy aspect,the British Government also made some policy mistakes when dealing with aircraft industry.The aircraft accidents made the situation even worse for aircraft industry.Since then,the aircraft industry in Great Britain started to decline.There are five parts in this thesis.Part 1 is the introduction to the essay,including the main structure of the essay.Part 2 mainly talks about development of the British aircraft industry from establishment to late 1950 s.Part 3 lists the events during the decline of aircraft industry since 1960 s.Part 4 discusses the reasons of the decline of the British aircraft industry.Part 5 is the conclusion of this essay.
