As a local authoress in Hong Kong,Xixi(1938—)is regarded by Ai Xiaoming as the most probable Nobel laureate in literature.She is renowned for the rich diversity and new thoughts in her fiction,even more remarkably,a specific cognition and nostalgia for Hongkong in the mid 20 th century.By the pointcut of space-time concept,this thesis selects Xixi’s My City,Float City,and Flying Carpet to unveil the city anxiety and also the fairy tales redemption in Xixi’s fiction.Introduction lists five aspects including the local urban fables,narratology,realistic fairy tales and so on to ravel out the current studies on her works,from which the author develops the new research idea from an innovated view;Chapter One describes the city delineation in which infuses the communal living background from the temporal and spatial dimensions with view to the restructure of ‘home’;Chapter Two displays the lack of belongingness and anxiety in identity for Hongkong people by the images of ‘float people’,‘float city’ and ‘flying’;Chapter Three discusses the redemption meaning that exemplifies in the colonial traces with light style,the rejuvenation with passionate figures and the belongingness with a fictional city;Conclusion summarizes the whole text with the highlight in the specialty,together with the unique status of the city delineation in Xixi’s fiction.
