The Mother’s Image Study Of Mainland Youth Film In The New Century

Review of Chinese movies,mother is a object that many movie creators want to write.With time going,the image of mother in the movie also has changed,different kinds of movies shaped different images of mother.Since the new century,youth movies have turned into one of the main types of domestic movies,and the image of mother in youth movies also have its own characteristics,film-makers no longer put the image of mother into a stereotypes that mother is a "high,great,omnipotent,kind,beautiful and good" person in the early Chinese films which write the mother image in groups,but show the impressive image of mother in diversified ways.Mainland youth film in the new century,the traditional mother image has been deconstructed ruthlessly,and the good image of mother has been replaced by the image full of ugliness,deformity,desire of human nature.Mothers affect their children consciously or unconsciously.In this paper,based on intensive reading of the texts,it will comprehensively analyze the image of mother in the Chinese youth movies in the new century.The thesis is divided into five parts.The introduction is about the significance and methodology of this paper,summarize the research status of the mother image in Chinese and abroad movies in recent years.Chapter one combs the related concepts about the youth movie,introduces the diversification of mother image in youth movies in the mainland in the new century and divide the image of mother into four types,stupid and weak person,shrewd spokesmen,indifferent peeper and distorted controller.Although the image of mother are different in the new century youth movies,the influence of mother is mostly negative in the youth movies,no matter what kind of state they are in,no mater what choices they make.Mother’s silence,endorsement,spectating and controlling have become the indelible wounds in youth.Chapter two analyzes the mother image in the youth movie in the new century and it’s relationships with others,which are mainly divide into the relationship between wife and husband,mother and son,mother and daughter.In the relationship between wife and husband,mothers,as wives,they follow their husbands and obey the traditional woman morality or become independent female with self-reliance awareness;In the mother-son relationship,mothers may be attached deeply by sons because of "Oedipus complex" or may be alienated by sons because of “Phaedra complex”;in the complicated mother-daughter relationship,mothers and daughters may be against each other under the authority of parents,or compete with each other because of sexual desire.In youth movies,it is difficult for mothers to get recognition of the youth,no matter what kind of attitude and method they adopt to deal with the relationship with others.Mother’s desire and disadvantages are gradually enlarged under the lens,and lost its original appearance.Chapter three deeply analyzes the classifications of mother image in the new century’s mainland youth films and the disposing interpersonal relationships,and interprets it’s social context and cultural context.In the social context,firstly,ideology has changed,the mainstream ideology has a tendency to the expression of individualism.It pays attention to individual existence value and meaning,so mother’s image is also more intimate and personal;Secondly,film-making group has changed,and interdisciplinary professional directors make mother’s writing style more diverse.The social context including the economic factors has a influence on the expression of the mother’s image in the youth movies.In the cultural context,the reflection on the traditional Chinese ethics and the prevalence of consumer culture are the important factors that affect mother’s image in the youth movies.Chapter four mainly elucidates the problems and values of mother’s image shaped in the mainland youth movies in the new century.Because the significance of the mother’s image exists in the movie youth is to make the youth discourse have a better expression,so in order to emphasize on the dramatic conflicts and the plot arrangement,many mother’s images appear the phenomenon of distortion,which make the youth movies have a value deviation.Although there are some shortages in the mother characters set in these films and information processing,they still have a certain value in ethical and aesthetic aspects.Through the writing of mother’s image,we can scan the flaws and insufficiency of traditional Chinese ethics,meanwhile,we can have a better choice.The mother’s image is reshaped in the youth movies in the new century,who have difference with the traditional mother,and this difference makes mother group more stereo,at the same time,the shape of "vicious mother" is good for us to scan ugliness and efficacy,which has a value of criticism and reflection.The Conclusion generalizes argument and discussion of this paper,and summarizes the important significance of the mother’s image in the mainland youth movies in the new century.By delving into the theories and the representative movies,this thesis is intended to analyze the mother images in the mainland youth movies from such perspectives like filmology,ethics,culturology,aesthetics and psychoanalysis,during the course of which the mother images are divided into certain types.Then,focus is put on deeply examining the mother images in the context of interpersonal relations and social discourse with a view to having a better understanding of them.
