Research On Component Confusion Of The Apitaph Regular Script Character In Sui Dynasty

Stone inscriptionsare the onlyavailablematerials for the studying of the regular script of Sui dynasty.Epitaph is a kind of stoneinscription,with the characteristics of high credibility and truth,sufficient quantity,clearregion and age,which become the most important materials for studying the form of characters.Sui dynasty plays a vital role in the transient stage of mature of regular scripts.Therefore,based on the usage situation of epitaphs of sui dynasty,this paper clarify the component confusion phenomenon,the features and rules of the component confusion of regular script.This article selects 190 legible sui dynasty epitaphs of regular script fromCollection andResearch of Sui Epitaph,Collection of Stone Carving Calligraphy of Chinese Past Dynasties in Beijing Library.Procedures as following: firstly,optimized the operating steps,including settling the individual character?putting the whole pictures into the individual character?making the division of component.Secondly,set up detailed database and pictures.Lastly,based on the former steps,make the word table and research on the regular script of sui dynasty from the respects of component.Besides,refer to the methods of the component of regular script,the writer will connect the split method of truth and the split method of shape.This paper treats the regular script of sui dynasty as the object of study.Thus,when comes to the component,upright letters of regular script is as the criterion.Due to different periods and chirography,it is the common phenomenon that there are some components which are unsuitable for oracle bone,character of Jin,small seal style and official script.Because this paper does not be specialized in the character history of the structure evolution,hence,there is a few or even few introductions about the source and evolution of components.The previous studiestakeSui and Tang dynasty as the synchronic period as to the development of regular script,and focus on the investigation ofTang.Hence,the research of Sui dynasty is not enough.Besides,research on Sui dynasty regular script component ismore rarely.Considering this shortage,this article takes Wang Ning's Chinese characters configuration as the guiding theory,making detailed description of regular script components confusion phenomenon of the Sui dynasty.By research and analysis,the writer hold the view that the confusion component of sui epitaphs has systematicness,contemporaneity and inheritance.During the process of confusion,the writer follows the rules of simplify convenience?appearance convergence?degeneration and familiar.This paper is divided into four chapters,the first chapter is introduction.Firstly,introducing the research object,the material source and definition of important terms;Secondly,clarifying previous research status of Sui dynasty stone inscriptions,regular script and component;Finally,explaining significance of this topic and research methods.The second chapter illustrates the steps of consolidation,the basis and principle of component splitting.In the third chapter,in orderto master the rule of component changing and the influence between the components,the writer selects thirteen typical blend components as detailed descriptions and specific analysis,and connectswith other artifacts which have the same changes.On the basis of the third chapter,in thefourth chapter,the writeranalyzes the component confusion phenomenon of Sui regular scripts through examples,expecting to provide reference for the reach of variant character and rules of the development of Chinese characters.
