A Report On “The Consecutive Interpreting Task Of 2015 Rehabilitation Technology Training Program For Developing Countries At Southern Medical University”

This is a report on medical English consecutive interpreting.The author describes her consecutive interpreting for Rehabilitation Technology Training Program for Developing Countries held by Southern Medical University in July 2015.Based on features of Medical English Interpreting,this paper analyzes the challenges in Medical English Interpreting.Besides,under the guidance of Daniel Gile’s “Comprehension Equation” the author reviews the interpreting analyses the problems as well as possible strategies.Made up of five parts,this report firstly presents an overview,secondly gives a detailed introduction about the interpreting task and process,next briefs the features and challenges in medical consecutive interpreting.Fourthly,the report introduces Gile‘s “Comprehension Equation” and analyzes the cases form the author‘s interpreting tasks as well as strategies she took.Finally is a conclusion of the enlightenment for the future‘s interpreting tasks.The author found that pre-task preparation is of great importance to improve on-site interpreting performance.Besides,useful interpreting skills such as free translation,literal translation,addition and omission can be used to refine output.Based on those mentioned above,the report is supposed to throw some lights upon consecutive interpreting in medical filed.
