Interpreter’s Subjectivity In Escort Interpreting

In recent years,with increasingly frequent exchanges between China and the rest of the world,there are more and more occasions where interpreting is needed.Escort interpreting is the very common and widely-adopted one.Interpreter is the subject to accomplish interpreting task,and interpreter’s subjectivity is an objective reality.However,in the traditional studies of translation or interpreting theories,interpreter,as an active component,has long been ignored in the translation or interpreting process.Therefore,this practice report takes one escort interpreting practice of the author as the research object.In the first and second chapter,it introduces the basic information of this practice,including task background,introduction to the entrusting party and the interpreter and reflections.The third chapter mainly presents previous studies on the interpreter’s subjectivity,illustrates its manifestation,and analyzes interpreting strategies with the manifestation of interpreter’s subjectivity.The fourth chapter is the conclusion part,and it further elaborates on the significance and limitation of this research.By studying interpreter’s subjectivity in the escort interpreting and the choices of interpreting strategies by the interpreter,this practice report will be of significance for interpreters to more appropriately adopt interpreting strategies and exert his or her subjectivity in a more proper way.However,since this report only analyzes interpreter’s subjectivity in the escort interpreting,and relevant studies in the consecutive interpreting or simultaneous interpreting or other settings such as court are not covered,there are still some limitations in this report.
