Yang Jiang(1911-2016),an outstanding writer and translator, started her writing in 1940s and gradually developed her own writing styles of modesty, humor and irony.During her creation period, she also translated three European literary masterpieces:Lazaraillo de Tormes,a Spanish novella;Gil Blas,a picaresque novel by a French novelist and playwright Alain-RenéLesage and Don Quixote,a Spanish novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra.Basing on her translation practice,Yang put forward her ideas of“Servant for Two Masters”(????)and“Degree of Translation”(???)in an essay on translation“To learn from the failures”.The research on Yang Jiang's writing and translation has been quickly developed after her identity of a “marginal-writer” recognized in recent years. But most of the studies regarded her either as a writer or as a translator independently. The interaction research on Yang's double identity has been ignored.Considering her contributions to literary creation and translation as well as her increasingly important status in the history of Chinese literature, this paper, taking Yang's only novel Xizao as a case study, explores the interaction between Yang Jiang's translation and her literary creation from the aspects of humanistic thoughts, diction and artistic features respectively in order to enrich the studies on Yang's literature.
