The source text of this translation report comes from the second,third and fourth chapter of Start Your Own Business(the sixth edition),introducing the procedures,means and precautions of establishing a business.According to text typology theory introduced by Peter Newmark,the source text can be categorized into informative text.After comparing several translation theories,the translator finds out that the translation principles of skopos theory is most applicable to guiding the translation of the source text,so the translator adopts the three translation principles of skopos to direct translation practice,expecting to convey the information of the source text accurately,faithfully and coherently in translation.In this translation report,the translator discusses the difficulties encountered in the translation practice and sums up solutions in terms of lexical,sentence and discourse levels,hoping to provide some references for the translation of informative text.This translation report consists of 6 chapters.The first chapter introduces background information,the target and the significance of the translation project and the structure of the translation report.The second chapter is about the preparation for the translation,including source text confirmation,feature analysis of the source text,application of translation tools,such as parallel texts,dictionaries and translation softwares,and skopos theory introduction and a plan for the translation project.The third chapter includes the understanding process of source text,the organization of target language,the difficulties encountered,such as the translation of terms and idioms,and a table of terms and proper nouns.The following chapter describes the reviewing process of the translation.The fifth chapter is case study,in this part,the translator analyzes some typical translation cases to show how to solve difficulties in translation by adopting useful translation techniques.The last chapter is a conclusion,summarizing the translator's gains and experience and inadequacies of the translation.
