Polyphonic Music Thinking In The Application Of Chinese Orchestral Music Creation

The last century of 80 s is a flourishing period of Chinese national orchestral music’s development.Based of inherited traditional music,Chinese composers absorbed and borrowed western composing techniques.Up to now,they have been created lots of excellent Chinese national orchestral repertoires,and have accumulated rich experiences in creation.They have made outstanding contributions for Chinese national orchestral music.Since ancient times,Chinese people prefer to appreciate the horizontal melody.People are particular about linear processing of melody timbre expression and linear arrangement of structure.Linear thinking is everywhere in Chinese traditional music,such as tune’s dealing in folk song and Chinese opera,linear timbre dealing in traditional instrument playing techniques which are in chanting,kneading,sliding and trembling.Those are all finely crafted based on linear development of linear music,also are maximized the expressive power of linear music.During the period of national orchestral music creation,Chinese composers bravely and creatively explored the organization of musical lines.Among them,the use of polyphony technique is one of the important writing techniques.Compared with the homophony which emphasizes the vertical music,the polyphony music emphasizes the lateral movement,and the combination of the two makes the music more perfect and expressive.For examples,Mr.Rao Yuyan created "Tone Poem-Mount Li Song" "Tone Poem-Yu Ling Ling" and other tone poem genre series.Mr.Zhu zhou,Mr.Gao Weijie and other people created "Shu Palace Banquet",Mr.He Xuntian created "Dabo River Caprice",Mr.Jin Xiang created "Mo Lou" and other national orchestral music works.Among those works,there are lots of the use of the combination of polyphony technique and national music.Especially,tone poem series which created by Mr.Rao Yuyan,are organically integrated the traditional national music language,the western polyphony technique and the modern creative thinking.Mr.Rao used the music expression of linear thinking into different parts,and highly unified creation form and content.Mr.Rao makes national orchestral music has a muti-level structure,and makes it more full of tension and stereoscopic,and truly achieves symphonic effects.This paper will through case studies,to figure out how to combine the polyphonic music technique with Chinese traditional music and modern creative thinking,and to find a creation way which good for express the national musical language and conform to the national aesthetic.
