Duan Qiding Landscape Painting Language Research

In today’s Chinese painting area,Duan Qiding,between the end of twentieth Century and early twenty-first Century,is one of the most successful artists in the field of creation of Chinese painting for South-west region.Although Duan Qiding is the mainstay of Chinese South-west regional landscape painting,he is so reserved that he seldom shows up in the public.This leads to little research about him and his works.As a modern Bashu regional Chinese painter,Duan Qiding’s inheritance and exploration into creation of Chinese painting fully shows his comprehensive and profound cultural heritage and outstanding achievements in painting area.In the time of his artistic creation,Duan Qiding’s chirographic application,use of color and variety of patterns showed his superb artistic attainments and vigorous creativity.All this fully reflected in his great creativity in artistic exploration and innovation,which has positive enlightenment and strong significance for the present artistic creation.Because there is little research about Duan Qiding and his works,this paper,by interviewing him and studying his art works and other materials,tries to show comprehensively the significance and value of his artistic language on landscape painting,which hopefully may become a case study of Chinese modern landscape drawing.By writing the thesis,I develop a better understanding and deeper thinking about Chinese landscape painting.Hope this thesis may bring some experience and practical help for landscape enthusiasts.
