Youth is the eternal topic of films,while campus youth is one of the best film topics and the collective memory shared by consumers in recent years.The graduation seasons offer proprietary space for the campus youth films to be created and released.That is also the main reason for their upsurge.In 2013,the film So Young directed by Zhao Wei achieved great success with 7,000 million at the box office and won the third place by surpassing the Hollywood movie Pacific Rim.Since then,campus youth films have greatly appealed to the current market segments in China.With the background of cultural diversity,those films would try their best to explore the various states of youth and present the variety of the youth values.In recent years,the youth campus films have shown multilevel categories.Therefore,as the essence of films,the values inside are supposed to be complex.Those movies target on teenagers who are struggling in the period of value formation,with characteristics of confusion,chaos,instability and susceptibility.In this way,it is especially significant for those movies to deliver values which not only recall the audience of their youth and create memory space,but also exert uplifting or negative influence on the establishment of values and social cultural psychology of the young.All the above is the research background of this paper.The thesis aims to analyze the youth values inside the movies by systematic investigation and classification.Considering the historical background,authoring environment and the influence of movie values,this paper expects to completely cover the values of campus youth films and discuss the issues about value content and authoring guidance,so as to provide the authors some reference to create more works with rich content and art depth,meeting the requirements of the time.There are six parts in this thesis to expound explicitly.The introduction mainly talks about the background,related theories and practical significance of the campus youth films,defines the research object and scope and points out the explicit research approach and methods.The first chapter will focus on the diversified structure of the film market in China,analyzing from the perspectives of policy,reformation,authoring group and the consistence of audience.On this base,the thesis expects to explore the phenomenal movies in China and the inevitable upsurge of campus youth films so that a conclusion can be drawn-the trend of campus youth films is the double option of the time and market,emphasizing the importance of the study on values of films.Considering social historical context,the second chapter will make an explicit text analysis of the movie narrations to find out the main values inside,including the view on realistic and idealistic love,the view on friendship with the context of consumption and the trend of the time,the view on ideals with the conflicts of new and old,as well as the view on education with differences among generations,considering the exam-oriented one.The third part mainly explores the characteristics of the diverse values inside the campus youth films in modern China,concluding from both positive and negative perspectives that the main-stream values about the true,the good and the beauty should be firmly stick to,while the negative values of materialism,hedonism and individualism also appear.A further exploration about the causes of value formation will also be conducted from three aspects of social historical context,option of script adaption and authoring purpose.The forth chapter aims to point out the existing problems of the campus youth films in modern China both on the ideology level-the lack of humanistic care and time spirit-and the artistic level-the imbalance of commerce and art as well as the lack of artistic innovation.On this base,the author proposes that in the future more emphasis should be lain on the reality of images,the diversity of narration and the guidance of education.The film Soulmate will be taken as an example in this chapter to explore the innovative narration and values in campus youth films.The last part is the summary of the whole study.First of all,it emphasizes the spirit of the film art,the relationship between the audience and the film,and the guiding function of the film.Second,it analysis the importance of campus youth film values on the basis of the "younger" audience characteristics and viewing needs in the current Chinese film market.Then,it points out the particularity of the social status of contemporary youth and excavats the importance of the spirit of the times.Finally,it points out that the campus youth film must pay attention to the narration of values,play the function of education guidance and create high-quality products.
