Yu Hua is a significant writer in the field of modern Chinese literature.During the last 30 years,Yu Hua created five full-length novels,six medium-length and short novels,several miscellaneous collections of essays for his readers,which obtained a lot of overseas as well as domestic literary awards,such as Australian Literary Prize for Suspensive Sentences and ZhuangZhongwen Literary Prize.In 1980 s,he captured the attention of the literary world through his vanguard novels.However,during 1980 s,Yu Hua's work still remained in imitating and borrowing writing skills from the foreign literatures.After entering the 1990 s,with the creation of literary works becoming more flexible and mature,Yu hua's writing started to transform the purely imitation style into the absorption of literary spirit and literary concept.Since the beginning of the 21 st century,Yu Hua didn't stop his pursuit of art.Yu Hua's literary works had been influenced and enlightened by quite a lot of foreign writers,such as Kawabata Yasunari,Kafka,French new novel,William Faulkner,Jorge-Luis Borges,and Fyodor Dostoevsky,for he placed emphasis on appreciating and absorbing the essence of foreign literature.The absorption of foreign works' merits provided Yu Hua with valuable writing experience and inspiration.Yu Hua made great contribution to the literary field for quite a lot of his literary works obtained appreciation from overseas and domestic readers.Through reading Yu Hua's works,it is obvious that there is a spiritual connection between Yu Hua's novels and the Russian-Soviet literature,especially the works of Leo Tolstoy,Fyodor Dostoevsky,and Mikhail Bulgakov,great Russian-Soviet writers since 19 th century.Yu Hua has the similar spiritual purport with Leo Tolstoy and Mikhail Bulgakov in that they share the same creation tendency,creation ideas,and creative attitude.At the same time,Yu Hua's novels share the theme,female image,and narrative style with Tolstoy's Resurrection,Anna Karenina,War and Peace,Fyodor Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment,The Brothers Karamazov,Mikhail Bulgakov'sThe Master And Margarit,and Anton Pavlovich Chekhov 's Chameleon,Small civil service the death.Based on the topic of “Yu Hua's novel creation and Russian-Soviet literature”,this thesis tried to explore the relationship between Yu Hua's novel creation and Russian-Soviet literature since 19 th century in order to broaden the researches focusing on “the relationship between Yuhua and foreign works” and reveal the related spiritual features of Yu Hua's novels.Besides the introduction and conclusion part,this thesis is divided into three chapters:The introduction part mainly introduces Yu Hua's creation process,creation characteristics,and the relationship between Yu Hua's works and foreign literature.Then a literature review of related previous researches is presented.The reason for subject selecting is also illustrated in this part.Chapter One focuses on the humanitarian care,the writer's real view and social responsibility.Then it discusses the connection between Yu Hua and Leo Tolstoy,Bulgakov and other Russian-Soviet writers from the perspective of novels' creation tendency,creation ideas and creation attitude.Chapter Two analyzes the similarities and differences between Yu Hua's literary creation and literary features with Russian-Soviet,focusing on the novels' suffering theme,the female image and the narrative features.Chapter Three explores Yu Hua's creation changes and limitations during his acceptance of Russian-Soviet literature.Based on that,it illustrates Yu Hua's self-breakthrough and transformation in literary creation,which points out his deficiency and provides enlightenment to the literary field.The conclusion part summarizes the whole paper,and puts forward in-depth thinking in how to deal with the relationship between foreign cultures and literature resources with modern Chinese literature in order to create better literary works.
