Research On The Representation Of Historical Oil Paintings In Contemporary China

Historical oil painting,a thematic creation mode which is difficult to master,has been playing a vital and unique role in history of fine arts at home and abroad due to its irreplaceable historical,social and artistic value.It not only presents historical events and figures with vivid images artistically,but also reflects painter's understanding and feelings about historical events and figures.It interprets history from a new perspective as well as endows the history with new vitality.In modern and contemporary Chinese history,especially after the founding of new China,creation of historical oil painting became associated with real politics in special historical context.Historical oil painting served national ideology wholeheartedly.Under the action of national ideology,historical oil painting created an unprecedented result,but for this reason,it was rigidified to a certain degree.Under the influence of market economy after reform and opening-up,the focus of artists and the common people was shifted from the previous historical themes reflecting politics,nation and livelihood to the expression of personal inner feelings.Minorities of artists continuing to highlight historical themes were incapable of getting rid of the stereotyped narrative modes,or showing distinct personal styles.While paying little attention to history,the common people will feel more disappointed about the historical oil paintings which are unable to spark their interest without languages of contemporary times.Nowadays,vast numbers of people have neglected the importance of historical oil paintings and the concept of "new" historical oil painting in contemporary context.First,this paper ascertains the development situation of historical oil paintings in all Chinese historical stages after the 20 th century,and then works out the reasons for the development situation of the-then historical oil paintings and its significance in combination with every stage's social environment and the spirit of the times.Subsequently,analyses are conducted on how to reveal the representation of these historical oil paintings through specific painting skills,how the spirit of the times and the subjective will of artists are embodied in painting and provide guidance for it,and what artistic characteristics and social responsibilities of historical oil paintings are shown in different forms and styles.These analyses help to reveal the significance of historical oil paintings to social development and national construction.In this case,young artists will attach importance to historical themes and then consider how to createhistorical oil paintings that accurately describe the spirit of contemporary times and meet the aesthetic standards of modern people in combination with the elements and languages of the times in present social environment.
