The Uygur Improved Rawap Survey And Research

Improved Rawap is a novel improved stringed instrument based on Kashgar Rawap that satisfies the demand of the contemporary Uygur on music under the influence of Uzbekistan musical culture driven by specific historical movement.It is primarily distributed in Northern Xinjiang,thus it is also known as Northern Xinjiang Rawap.Improved Rawap is widely adopted by folk orchestra over Xinjiang,professional teaching of art academy,concert and various folklore activities.As it can play a variety of performances,it enjoys a dominant position in Uygur music.This paper takes the improved Rawap as the research object and performs research and investigation by means of field investigation,literature review and so forth.Firstly,the development course of the improved Rawap is summarized based on literature review and investigation.Additionally,cities in Northern Xinjiang are visited with Urumchi as the center to conduct field investigation,including Turpan,Shanshan,Hami,Karamay and Yili.The information collected is also classified and summarized.Furthermore,according to the documents on the improved Rawap and the information and data collected via field investigation,the improved Rawap,its performance,musical forms,characteristics,musical values and cultural connotations are further researched.Finally,the current condition of its inheritance is analyzed,existing problems are proposed as well as corresponding improvement countermeasures and some inspirations.This paper is expected to offer some feasible suggestions and advice for the inheritance and protection of other minority musical cultures.
