Research On The Use Of Uyghur And Chinese Languages Among The Uyghur And Han Merchants In The Shopping Malls In Grand Cross Street In Hami City

Based on social linguistic theoretical frameworks, this study adopts suchmethods as questionnaires, interviews and observations, and researches the use ofUyghur and Chinese languages among the Uyghur and Han merchants in theshopping malls in Grand Cross Street in Hami City.Statistically analyzing the characteristics and causes of their language usage aswell as comparatively analyzing their language competence and attitude, this paperdemonstrates the differences and similarities.The paper is composed of five chapters. Chapter One is on the introduction,which includes the research backgrounds, purposes and significance, methods,reviews on the research status of domestic and foreign language use, the sites of thesurvey and the summary of research subjects.Chapter Two is on the statistical analysis of the use of Uyghur language amongthe Uyghur merchants in the shopping malls in Grand Cross Street in Hami City. Itincludes the language acquisition of Uyghur merchants, the current situation of theirlanguage competence and the present situation of their language use, their languagelearning approaches, their language attitudes, the characteristics and causes of theirlanguage usage.Chapter Three is on the statistical analysis of the use of Chinese languageamong the Han merchants in the shopping malls in Grand Cross Street in Hami City.It includes the language acquisition of Han merchants, the current situation of theirlanguage competence and the present situation of their language use, their languagelearning approaches, their language attitudes, the characteristics and causes of theirlanguage usage.Chapter Four is on the comparative analysis of their language competence andattitude between the Uyghur and Han merchants. Apart from comparative analysis oftheir language competence and language attitude, this chapter also focuses on theanalysis of their common language attitude.The ending part is the summary of the comparative analysis of their languagecompetences and language attitudes in terms of their language characteristics andcauses.
