The Study Of Chick Flicks In Chinese Mainland

With show of the film Sophie's Revenge in Chinese mainland in 2009,the concept,Chick Flick,was introduced in Chinese mainland and theoretical exploration on Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland also kicked off.In the past ten years,various aspects of Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland including the theme exploration,narrative style and audio-visual language have made great progress.The appearance and rapid development of chick flicks not only enrich the styles of films in our country,but also enhance the ornamental and commercial value of films in our country.However,compared to the mass-production chick flicks in Hollywood,Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland are far from mature whether in the production mode,number of scale or the quality of the film.Therefore,a systematic study of Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland will contribute to the development and prosperity of this emerging type of films.This paper analyzes the chick flicks in Chinese mainland in three parts.The first part traces the development of Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland in terms of the type of films.It mainly introduces the emerging background and the general development of Chick Flicks in Hollywood and in Chinese mainland to get diachronic understanding of chick flicks.The second part mainly explores and analyzes the aesthetic characteristics of Chick Flicks from three perspectives,the theme of the film and the characters,the narrative strategy and the film language,in order to have a more profound understanding of the unique characteristics of this type of films.The third part explores and analyzes the necessity of the construction of the Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland and the dilemma and strategies in the localization development.This part puts forward several strategies to deal with the problems arising in the localization process.Additionally,this part uses a comparative method to utilize the success of Chick Flicks in other countries for reference to find a suitable way to survive and develop Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland and make Chick Flicks in Chinese mainland a more mature type of films which can really root in the domestic film market.
