During the period of the Republic of China(1917-1924),prohibiting opium and narcotics has obtained a certain achievement in the very complicated situation at home and abroad under the joint efforts of government,the non-governmental anti-smoking and anti-drug groups and the people from all walks of life.In return,it has made incalculable contributions and an important position in the history of prohibiting opium and narcotics in China.This paper will take the propaganda of prohibiting opium and narcotics as the main research material,which was associated with Changsha Ta-kung Daily between 1917 and 1924.From the perspective of the news reports and the detailed written records of Changsha Ta-kung Daily,this paper will discuss several aspects about the propaganda of prohibiting opium and narcotics: to see the dangers of smoking in the propaganda report of Ta-kung Daily;The publicity report on the official anti-smoking campaign;The report from the private anti-smoking and anti-drug groups;The report on major anti-smoking and anti-drug issues and the influence of public opinion and the evaluation.Through these public opinion publicity,I will reproduce the frightful calamities to modern China caused by smoke poison and the great achievements and the difficulties of our Chinese government and people in the smoking prohibition road.Thus I will summary Changsha Ta-kung Daily's impact and role in non-smoking anti-drug publicity and supervision and the new situation and features in the Republic of China(1917-1924).
