An Analysis Of Positioning Of Escort Interpreters In Promotion Meetings:An Interpreting Report Of BTIC 2015

This is an escort interpreting practice report,which describes the interpreting process in the promotion meeting of BTIC 2015.As an escort interpreter,the author interpreted for the CEO of VerticalField,an Israeli company.When the author prepared for the task and did the interpreting work,he realized that escort interpreters can perform better with the help of positioning before and during the interpreting process.Based on the interpreting practice,the author analyzed the positioning of escort interpreters in promotion meetings and the relationship between different positioning and corresponding interpreting performance through case analysis.Through the analysis,the author drew some conclusions: 1.By analyzing the characteristics of escort interpreting in promotion meetings,the positioning of escort interpreters in promotion meetings includes the specialist,messenger,communication-facilitator,assistant and cultural mediator.2.Accurate positioning of escort interpreters in promotion meetings will yield better performance.Accurate positioning helps interpreters prepare better before the task and perform better during the task.3.Escort interpreters need to accumulate more business,etiquette and cultural knowledge to perform better in business activities like promotion meetings.
