A Report On The Translation Of Process Control And Design Basis Of Ethylene

Based on the analysis of the linguistic features and content of the source text,this translation project adopted the translation theory of functional equivalence in translation practice.Under its guidance,the author finished the translation task and introduced some translation techniques.This translation project selected three parts from a series of translation materials,originated from Qinghai Salt Lake Magnesium Industry Ltd.,which are mainly related to the process control and design basis of ethylene.The source text belongs to texts of chemical industry with due practical value and great industrial significance.The whole translating process was presented in the form of a report.This report mainly consists of four parts.The first part gives a brief description of the task,including the translation content,translation objectives,translation significance,and the key problems arising in translation process.The second part first gives a careful analysis of the source text,then introduces the preparation work before translating,such as preparing background knowledge,creating a glossary,preparing translating tools and reading parallel texts,etc.and finally discusses some translation skills and theories.The third part discusses some specific translation cases from the lexical,syntactic and textual levels.In the fourth part,the author draws a conclusion from this translation project and presents some unresolved issues.
