This is a project report on translation of “Translation Goes to the Movies”,Chapter2of The Frontier of Translation: Stagecoach to Dances with Wolves writtenby Michael Cronin. With the guidance of functional equivalence theory, combiningwith some specific instances, the writer anal sizes such translation difficulties asvocabulary, sentence and cultural aspects. The writer deals with difficulties invocabulary aspect by choice of words and transliteration, employs various translationmethods to deal with difficulties in sentence aspect in a specific way by analysis ofsentence types and sentence constituents and adopts domestication and foreignizationtranslation strategies and annotation method to resolve difficulties in cultural aspect,achieving such functional equivalence as vocabulary equivalence and sentenceequivalence for reproducing source language information. |
