Against the backdrop of globalization, increasing exchanges between China and the rest of the world have resulted in enlarging demand for interpreters,in particular those excellent both in interpreting and in business knowledge. Thus an interpretingmajor student can have a role to play in the business circle if they master interpreting skills and get themselves familiar with business knowledge. In business liaison interpreting, common problems usually fall into linguistic difficulties, such as unknown corresponding expressions and unknown terminology, and non-linguistic difficulties, such as silence in communication and fuzzy information. On the basis of the author’s business liaison interpreting on the afternoon of May 26 th,2015,the author objectively describes the difficulties she encountered during the interpreting and presents four kinds of coping tactics—explanation, enquiry of terminology, breaking silence and enquiry of fuzzy information—for overcoming these difficulties under the guidance of the Skopos theory.Hopefully this report can be of some assistance to future student interpreters.
