| The stock market has been gradually expanding since the beginning of 21 st century as more investors have been speculating how to make a fortune.At present,the stock market is dominated by middle-aged investors who possess handsome sums of money,while so-called timid millennials remain hesitant to invest.There are two reasons for this situation: First,millennials are worried,risk-averse,and financially conservative;and second,they lack the relevant market information and guidance.In view of these,the author selects Millennial Money:How Young Investors Can Build a Fortune as the source text.The book explains why young people enjoy the largest investing advantage,what mistakes these investors commonly make,and how they could avoid these pitfalls.Most importantly,this book introduces three simple but useful principles to consider when investing in the stock market.Unlike other books of its kind,this one is written in plain language,and is both interesting and persuasive.This material is translated by three teammates.There are ten chapters in all,and my contribution of roughly 10,000 words involves Chapters 7 to 8.This translation report is divided into four parts: task description,process description,case study and conclusion.In order to make sure that the target text is faithful and readable,the author adopts different translation methods in dealing with the difficulties appear in this translation project,including repetition,addition,omission,conversion and so on.Based on the source text and target text,the author selects many examples to illustrate how to apply relevant translation methods to solve problems and difficulties.I chose this project to improve my translation ability primarily through the application of various translation theories that I studied at SITS.I sincerely hope that this translation project will serve as a useful and understandable guide for young investors who are searching for practical and easily-understandable reading that will help them make wise investment decisions in an age of market uncertainty. |
