Research On Types Of Dai Animal Stories

Animal stories of Dai people have been widely spread in Dai areas along with their long history.While combining complex philosophy of life and social philosophy into the vivid,interesting animal world in their development,their language and structure both became more refined,which made them attractive and welcoming enough to both entertain and educate Dai people Dai animal stories fully represented the wisdom of Dai people,reflected the cogitation of Dai ancestors towards nature and the society,and Dai people's values,outlook on life as well.Taking collection of Dai animal stories as the main research objects and combining ethnology,anthropology,folklore and other research methods while considering the characteristics of Dai animal stories,this paper will compare animal stories of Thai with that of Dai people,mainly through their types and motifs.Thus,we can explain the Dai-Thai relationship in another aspect,and get better understanding about Dai culture.The whole essay composes of five chapters.The introduction briefly describes the motive of writing this essay,introduces the research status of animal stories,some related concept and theories,also the significance and methods of writing.The first chapter classifies the collected Dai animal stories.First of all,it briefly described the current classification of animal stories.I will use the AT classification and Albert's classification of animal stories to classify the animal story of Dai to forma preliminary understanding.Based on the classification of chapter one,the second chapter analyzes the motifs of the Dai animal stories,through which to find the meaning of the Dai animal stories,and to select the same types of both Dai and Tai animal stories to analyze their motifs,therefore to have a further understanding of Dai animal Stories.The third chapter discusses the value of Dai animal stories.It is divided into two parts: the literary value and cultural value.Through analyzing the typical images,thereference value of the writer's literature,the rich knowledge of Dai culture and its educational value,and its value to enhance ethnic identity,we could have a more profound understanding about animal stories and rich national culture of Dai.The conclusion summarized the types,motifs,cultural connotation and value of Dai animal stories,and expounds the writer's viewpoints,shortcomings and future research directions.
