This is a translation practice report,which is based on the Introduction part of the book Playing to the World's Biggest Audience written by Michael Curtin.The original text mainly introduces the globalization of film and television industries and the shifting dynamics of Global China(including Mainland China,Hongkong,Taiwan and Singapore)in this wave of globalization.On the basis of Peter Newmark's Communicative Translation theory,this translation report introduces some frequent difficulties and appropriate translation techniques applied on lexical level and syntactic level,including conversion of word class,diction,amplification,embedding,sequential translation,recasting and splitting,so as to make the translation smooth and natural.The translation report is divided into four chapters: the first chapter is the introduction,including the background and significance of the translation project;the second chapter analyses the content and features of the source text;the third chapter discusses the difficulties in translation and solutions,including the preparation,translation theory,difficulties in translation and translation skills,which analyses the difficulties encountered in the translation process and introduces several translation skills from lexical level and syntactic level;the fourth chapter is the conclusion.
