Both “Fleur” and “Under the Radar” are selected from Oxford Book of American Short Stories(2012)edited by American writer Joyce Carol Oates.“Fleur” was written by Native American woman writer Louise Erdrich and published in 1988,winning an O.Henry Award.“Under the Radar” was written by American writer Richard Ford.So far,no Chinese versions of them have been located.Five parts were included in the report,i.e.introduction,procedures of the translation task, theoretical basis, case analysis, and conclusion. The translation practice belongs to literary translation and is done on the basis of Xu Yuanchong’s triple transformation theory.“Triple transformation refers to generalization, equalization, particularization” and is used in case analysis to tackle the specific difficulties. For example, the translations of extended meanings, nicknames, and geographical names are discussed on the word level. The passive voice and the solutions of rhetoric are analyzed on the sentence level. The background information is studied on the culture level. As case analysis reveals,Xu Yuanchong’s “triple transformation” is applicable to guide the translation practice.
