| Since the modern times,with the increasingly frequent cultural exchanges between China and the West,literary translation has come into being.Fiction is one of the four literature forms,and fiction translation plays an indispensable role in promoting cultural exchanges between countries around the world.Therefore,the study of fiction translation still has great theoretical and practical significance.This source text is an excerpt taken from chapters One and Two in A Heart to Mend,written by Nigerian writer Myne Whitman.Among Myne Whitman’s works,A Heart to Mend and A Love Rekindled are most popular with readers.In addition,many of her short stories have also been published in all kinds of media in Nigeria.However,among all the works,there is no corresponding Chinese translation till now.Thus translating this fiction can open up translator’s horizons,and expand the field of innovation.With review of the traditional translation theory,this practice report adopted some translation methods,including amplification,omission,conversion,positive and negative translation,division and combination,etc.The translator analyzed the words,and phrases and summarized the emphasis and difficulty in the process of translation,which aimed at making target readers understand the source text better. |
