| The world has been seeing a marked rise in the launchings and influence of Confucius Institutes(CIs)in the past 13 years;the translation of CI news releases,therefore,bears increasing importance.As a conveyor of information,the news release is an important tool for extending cultural influence.Translating CI news releases is becoming a key approach to disseminating information,bridging cross-cultural communication,and facilitating Chinese culture to step onto the world stage.This report is based on the translation project on CIMU news releases the author undertook and focuses on three aspects: lexicons,sentences,and texts.On the basis of case analyses,this report discusses effective methods to reflect Chinese cultural factors in English texts on these three aspects.In this report,the application of translation strategies,including transliteration with annotation,literal translation,reservation of subtitles,paraphrasing,amplification,echoing of form and content,and end rhyme,is discussed in detail through case studies.This report intends to discuss translation strategies for CI news releases together with other translators. |
