“I Met My Inner Devil: Woolf's Pictures of the 1930 s,the Death and the Phoenix of Freud” is the eighth chapter of Virginia Woolf's Bloomsbury,Volume 1: Aesthetic Theory and Literary Practice.The author,Maggie Herm,is the honorary professor of cultural studies in University of East London.This chapter first describes the psychological impact of Freud's first arrival in Acropolis,and his complex feelings about his father,then tells a brief meeting between Woolf and Freud,and the influence of Freud's death and Freudian psychoanalysis on Woolf's life,mental state and her writing.This report analyses the language features and resulting translation difficulties of the original text and attempts to provide workable translation methods for texts of same types.The report is divided into five chapters.Chapter One is a brief introduction to the task,including the background and significance.Chapter Two presents the stages of preparation before translation,translation process,and proofreading after translation.Chapter Three analyses the language features of the source text respectively from lexical,and syntactic levels and indicates the translation difficulties.Chapter Four,as the main body of the report,discusses the methods of translating terminology,special nouns and long-difficult sentences.Chapter Five reveals the lessons and findings in translating this material.
