Chen Zhongfan And The Start Of The History Of Chinese Literary Criticism

Since the 20 th century,the society of China has got dramatic change,especially under the influence of the May Fourth New Culture Movement.With the western academic ideas and research method swarming into China,the academics have embarked on a path of transformation from tradition to modernity.It was in this cultural ecology that the history of Chinese literary criticism by Chen was born.This work constructed the theoretical logic of the history of literary criticism by referenc ing western academic in order to govern the materials of traditional critic ism of poems and articles.On this basis,the work has completed the historical narrative of the Chinese ancient literature critic ism from Confucius to Zhang Taiyan since more than two thousand years,and has preliminarily set up the frame of the history on Chinese literary critic ism.Today reviewing the history of literary critic ism of the past century,it is necessary to examine the significance and limitations of Chen's initiation.As a pioneer work to start writing of Chinese literary critic ism,Chen's work has the epoch-making contributions to blaze the trail,so this thesis is divided into four chapters to explore the subject: the first chapter dates back to the original cultural context,combing with the shift of Chen's experience from the research on Confucian classics and history to literature,taking the modern transformation of the criticism of poems and articles to literary critic ism as a breakthrough point,and placing it in the cultural ecology of sorting out Chinese classics movement context to explore the beginning reason;the second chapter mainly exp lores the new construction of Chen's ideas on literary,literary criticism theory,and the history of literary criticism in view of Chinese and Western fusion,and presents the outline structure of history;the third chapter discusses Chen's carding and explanation on the literary critic ism theory for every dynasty,especially from five aspects,such as Ethical view of literature in pre Qin,the Poetic theory in the historical comments of Han Dynasty,the self-consciousness of literary theory in Wei and Jin Dynasties and special significance,the poetic theories in Tang Poetry,and the development of the lyrics theory for the dynasties of Song,Yuan,Ming and Qing;the fourth chapter mainly analyzes the influence of Chen's work on the future development of literary critic ism from the macro aspect of the development of Chinese literary criticism history,by comparing with the early critic ism history.In the conclusion,this thesis retrospects the unique status of Chen's work in the modern and contemporary times,further discussing the construction value of its influence on academic research.
