Dongxiao Tuzhi is the most complete annals of mountains and temples that recording the scenic mountains and waters of the Dongxiao temple and the Dadi mountain. To date, there are four known and visible versions of Dongxiao Tuzhi, including the version of Zhibu Zuzhai series, the version of Siku Quanshu of Wenyuan chamber, the version of grand view of note novels, the handwritten version from the third year of emperor Yuanwu of Yuan dynasty. Based on the analysis of their differences, it is found that the widespread Dongxiao Tuzhi can be generally divided into the handwritten version and the block-printed edition. An additional version of this annals is Dadi Dongtian Ji. The Dadi Dongtian Ji has been suggested to be an abridged edition of the Dongxiao Tuzhi, as previously described in the epitome of the General Catalogue of Siku Quanshu. However, the fact is that the compilers of the Siku Quanshu were confused and they failed to differentiate the correlations between the two books , thus leading to erroneous deductions. Our study revealed that the Dadi Dongtian Ji should not be an abridged edition of the Dongxiao Tuzhi, whereas the Dongxiao Tuzhi was supplemented on the basis of Dadi Dongtian Ji.Dongxiao Tuzhi was compiling under the background of a special period during late Song to early Yuan dynasty. During this period, both the prosperous development of Taoism in Hangzhou region and the Southern Song government's reliance on the Dongxiao temple laid the foundation for its compilation. Deng Mu is listed as the unique author for all versions of Dongxiao Tuzhi. Indeed, the annals was progressively supplemented by others through its entire compilation process. In this sense, Deng Mu should not be the only author of Dongxiao Tuzhi. The local chorography of the Southern Song dynasty which followed the ones of the Northern Song dynasty had a comprehensive system, their formation and achievement provided the foundation for Dongxiao Tuzhi's compilation. Based on studying the citation of Linan Sanzhi by Dongxiao Tuzhi, the following and supplement conditions of the materials origination of Dongxiao Tuzhi can also be learned.Dongxiao Tuzhi is of great value for literature study, this annals has the potential to supplement contents of different collective works of poetry and literature like collected Song literatures, collected Yuan literatures, collected Song poems and collected Yuan poems.Besides, the Dongxiao Tuzhi filled the knowledge gap of local chorography about the Dadi mountain and further provided a simulate model and a significant material source of local chorography for later generations. Dongxiao Tuzhi has much value as historical records and it is beneficial to investigate the detail of Taoism activities during the Song and Yuan Dynasties. The contents of this annals are vividly described and the language used was precise and unaffected. Dongxiao Tuzhi embodies numerous works and is somewhat valuable in literature. The latter part of this thesis aimed to collate the Dongxiao Tuzhi. To this end, we selected the version of Zhibu Zuzhai series as the original text and also referenced other versions. Based on the punctuating version published by the Commercial Press in 1936, we standardized the punctuation marks through the entire annals according to the current general rules for punctuation and regular examples of punctuation collation of ancient books. Moreover, we marked the quotation in the annals and relevant references the annals cited.Taken together, we improved Dongxiao Tuzhi and offered a comparatively complete version via systematic collation.
